DeepLook - CS Crosswell Seismic Imaging: A Revolution in Resolution
For more than a decade, Z-Seis Crosswell Seismic Imaging technology has supported drilling and production operations worldwide. Now established as DeepLook - CS within Schlumberger's Deep Reading Group, this technology incorporates a unique process, combining wellbore sonic sources and receivers, to deliver up to 3 feet of vertical resolution imaging - a true revolution in resolution.
Conventional Technologies and the Information Gap
Able to generate a quality aerial view, conventional 3D surface seismic has played a key role in the discovery of reservoirs around the world. However, this 3D surface seismic technology can only provide limited information about the vertical heterogeneity of the reservoir.
Similarly, while such conventional processes as Well Logging, Core Sampling, and analysis of production data do generate vertical heterogeneity information, that data is limited in scope to within a few inches of the well.
Based on its ability to generate up to 3 feet of vertical resolution over a broad area, Crosswell Seismic Imaging technology can deliver critical, detailed information concerning the vertical heterogeneity between wells. This adds significantly to the overall understanding of the reservoir and interwell area.
Proven in a Number of Applications
Based on its ability to deliver unmatched high-resolution images, Crosswell Seismic Imaging technology has been proven in a number of key applications. Over the years the value of Crosswell Seismic Imaging has been established in EOR operations including Waterflood, the search for Bypassed Reserves and Unconventional Gas, SAGD applications, and in CO2 Sequestration projects.
High-resolution Crosswell Seismic technology is also an outstanding tool for Life Cycle Reservoir Management. The high-resolution images generated through these Crosswell Seismic surveys provide operators with the information they need to better understand the reservoir and manage its life cycle value, from initial exploration through recovery and abandonment.
